Abstract

This article examines the travel writings of English traveler and journalist Stephen Graham as an important narrative
source on the history of colonial Turkestan in the early 20th century. Particular attention is paid to his biography, worldview, and the influence of his works on the formation
of understanding of the region in European scholarship.
